Appendix B. Deer ranking of vegetation cover types based on the distribution of the different vegetation types within the individuals’ second year home range.

The fractions of vegetation cover types of each home range of the 17 females were calculated, assuming the home range characteristics of the second year reflect deer preferences, and then were categorized into range classes. Each range then received a rank from 1–10 based on the preferences of the females in the wild. Specifically, the range into which most of the 17 home ranges were categorized received a rank of 10, the range with the subsequent frequency received a lower score, and so on.
