Around day of the year 260 the turtle crossed the Gulf Stream (visible as a sharp chlorophyll concentration gradient, decreasing from 4 mg/m3 to 0.3 mg/m3 over 50 km), clearly seen in the chlorophyll a concentration image (panel f).
