Appendix B. A table of taxonomic, substrate, and habitat groups and plot occupancy and frequency of all 74 bryophyte species.
TABLE B1. Phylogenic, substrate and habitat groups and occupancy and frequency of all 74 bryophyte species encountered in the 40 plots located in south- or north-facing slopes in either forests or clear-cuts. Plot occupancies are totals (0–10) and frequencies (1–5) are means with 1 SE in parenthesis where N equals plot occupancy scores. Abbreviations are given for species included in Fig. 1b.

Notes: Phylogenic groups are mosses (M) and liverworts (L). Substrate groups are wood and bark (W and B), undisturbed ground (G), and disturbed mineral soil (M). Habitat groups are forests (F) and open habitats (O). Mean frequency is calculated differently from Tables 1 and 2 in the paper. Here frequency is the average number of the five subplots that are occupied by the species in the 200 m2 plots where it appears, i.e., the frequency range is 1–5. In Tables 1 and 2 the frequencies are based upon the plot pairs where a species appears, i.e. frequency may range from 0–5 for individual plots.
