Appendix A. A map of the Punta de la Banya peninsula showing the main vegetated dunes where gulls can breed.

A Map of the Punta de la Banya peninsula (Ebro delta, see Methods) showing the main vegetated dunes where gulls can breed. Out of the dunes, the habitat is flat and bare sandy areas (flooded stochastically) or brackish lagoons. The black area shows the patch of bare area where gulls bred and were monitored, while the shaded area shows the largest dune where population density of gulls was highest. Pictures of nests with their surrounding breeding habitat for each study patch are also shown.
