Appendix A. Intrinsic rate of population increase per day (R, mean ± SD) and generation times in days (G, mean ± SD) of ciliate and meiofaunal species (given with their mean body weight, M, mgC / ind.) from the Lone Oak stream and the Pant stream, grown in laboratory cultures at 15 °C. Intrinsic rate of population increase and generation time were calculated for each culture and the standard deviation indicates differences between cultures (N = number of cultures).
